JOINING BT and BAPTISM
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
What an exciting time we are having here at BT McAllen. We are thrilled to see what God is doing in our church. We have many people who have committed their life to Jesus as their Lord and Savior and subsequently desire to become members of BT McAllen.
Our membership process includes two classes; Discover BT and Join BT. Discover BT covers includes a description of who we are, what we believe and our general philosophy of ministry. It also will introduce you to the many ministry opportunities we offer here at BT McAllen. For those completing the Discover BT class and desire to continue their membership commitment, we then offer Join BT as the final step in the process. This class reviews the application process, discusses the expectations we have of our members and attempt to address any questions prospective members may have. Discover BT classes are held frequently as the number of membership requests come in. The Join BT class is offered quarterly for those who have completed the Discover BT class. A complete schedule is available at the Information Center.
There are two main criteria for membership at BT McAllen. First, an individual must have experienced salvation, and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Secondly, one must be Baptized by immersion. The purpose of Baptism is explained elsewhere on this web site.
Anyone desiring to become a member and initiate the process, may fill out a communication card in the pews on Sunday morning or may sign-up here on line. For any questions, please contact our Pastors Office at info@btmcallen.com or call the church office 956-686-5296.

BAPTISM
1. It Is A Public Testimony That You Are A Follower of Christ and His Teaching.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
2. It Symbolizes Spiritual Cleansing.
"And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." 1 Corinthians 6:11
3. It Pictures the True Meaning of Salvation.
"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:1-4
Note: The word "baptize" means "to immerse or dip under water." Water baptism by immersion is public display of obedience in following Christ's example for His baptism (Matthew 3:16).
Baptism does not make you a believer - it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not "save" you - only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring - it's the outward symbol of the commitment that you have made in your heart.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
