BT Kidz : Baby Dedication

Here at Baptist Temple we do not practice “infant Baptism.” However we do practice what is called “Child Dedication.” This is a ceremony in which the child is offered in dedication to the Lord.

Why do we dedicate babies?
As a child, Jesus was brought by his parents to the House of the Lord. This was an act of dedication and recognition the He really belonged to God. Throughout Christ’s ministry, people brought their children to Jesus and He placed His hands on each of them, and blessed them.

Is it in the Bible?
As Christians we need to come to a realization that all we have belongs to God, including our children. This dedication is not salvation for a child, rather it is a public declaration of the fact that this child belongs to God, as well as a public declaration that as parents we will do everything in our power, as God gives
wisdom, to see that the child grows up to respect and honor God, and to love and serve Jesus Christ as their Savior. This dedication is a commitment by parents to honor the will and word of God.

How do I participate in a Baby Dedication?
All parents interested in dedicating their child are asked to attend a 30 minute class prior to the dedication. Please email Miss. Ila (ila@btmcallen.com) to schedule a class session. Once parents have taken the class, they can have their child dedicated on any dedication services offered after the class they have taken.
Baby dedications take place the first Sunday of every month.

Can a single parent dedicate their baby?

Absolutely!

Who should we invite to the dedication service?
The baby dedication is a very special time, so be sure to invite your
family and friends. There is no limit on the number of guests you may
invite.

Do I have to be a member of Baptist Temple to dedicate my child?
No, But because of the great importance of this dedication process,
we require all participants to be followers of Christ and be active
attendees in the life of Baptist Temple
